Notes & Musings From My 2023 Outfit Archive
The drop waist stuck around, mini skirts seduced and silk scarves invaded!

As I was drafting a couple posts about some of my style goals for 2024, I realized that it would only be apropos to look back on my outfit highlight reel for 2023. Specifically, I wanted to reflect on the style elements that really worked for me last year and I’ll be carrying over into this year.
This is more of a photo diary than anything — but it really helped to go digging through my own archives to figure out what I liked, didn’t liked and actually feel inspired to do again and again.
So here we go!
1. Denim cutoffs forever
This is one of my favorite outfits from 2023, hands down. I wore it to my friends’ gallery space opening and my main goal with it was to be able to mingle and mix.
So I decided to really have fun and lean into a formula that was turning around in my head: pairing a very preppy, almost uniform-esque blouse with a baggy pair of cutoff denim (both thrifted). Plus, with my favorite leopord print vintage cowboy boots, this fit truly felt like the perfect collage of ME.
PS — these cowboy boots ended up ripping off at the bottom once the night was over, but after a trip to the cobbler, they were good as new! Get yourself a cobbler, people!!!
Another cutoff denim moment were these dark denim shorts that I got as a hand-me-down from my dear friend Shelly. Her and I are constantly swapping and exchanging clothes whether it be for our own closets or styling photoshoots, so it’s always extra special to have a piece from her be a 10/10.
I paired it with a cobalt blue blouse from one of my favorite vintage boutiques, Rose Parlor, which turns heads whenever I wear it out.
2. Shimmering textures
2023 was the year I introduced silver into my style and completely fell in love. And that love affair extended into other metallic textures as well. Such as this drop waist skirt in a gorgeous, shimmery peach:
Originally, I was going to pair it with something more flashy but opted for this sand-colored cowel neck top from Geel that…arguably maybe washed me out but I just loved how the silhouette looked together with the skirt.
3. Scarves! Scarves!
Silk scarves are something I’ve definitely showed off and talked about a lotttt last year. But they truly deserve their flowers with how they (positively) invaded my wardrobe and elevated so many outfits. Whenever I found myself asking “Well, what else?” about an outfit, a scarf was usually the answer.
