Welcome to The Changing Room

This is a newsletter about style but also all the litte things in between.

What you can excpect: long-winded essays about the mindful dressing, interviews with people that go beyond just “what are you wearing” and an authentic space to enjoy acquiring beautiful things in a sustainable and mindful way.

I wasn’t always interested in writing about fashion, but I always loved writing about big feelings — so this newsletter is a combination of the two.

Hi — I’m Arbela Capas, a writer and editor based in Cleveland, Ohio. You may know me from my previous work as style and home editor for Cleveland Magazine or through some other freelance work I’ve done now and then. You may have also found me through my long rants about personal style and vintage on TikTok.

Whatever it may be, I’m so glad you’re here.

Out in the real world, you’re most likely to find me between the racks of a vintage store, sipping on sweet mocktails, listening to jazz music at home or cuddling my pitbull, Davey.

What readers are saying:

“I’ve referenced this Substack on the reg, some amazing fashion and life philosophy in here!”

“I really enjoy following Arbela Capas and reading her newsletter! I think she’s so unique and has a very (what I would call) lucid approach to style that I find digestible and inspiring. — Victoria

“Arbela’s commentary around style and approach to curating pieces that make you feel at home in your own clothes is unique, ahead of trends, and frankly just refreshing and fun.” — Holly Bland

“I’ve been a lazy lover of your thoughts and posts, but your words always reach me out here on this digital landscape.” —

“I am so excited every time I see an email come through from The Changing Room! I can count on reading an interesting weaving of fashion, personal introspection, and nostalgia. It's my favorite newsletter I'm subscribed to!” Shelly Duncan
